- Love your environment
The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) had made a decision to change the way they were working. Their new headquarters at Aurora House, 56 The Terrace in Wellington offered an opportunity to create this change.
MSD was working in a traditional open plan environment that was desk-centric supported by closed meeting rooms. To deliver their new work style aspirations, they made the decision to create a more dynamic open environment, with multiple spaces that would promote flexibility and support different daily tasks of the organisation. MSD also wanted to ensure the building was welcoming to their clients and partners, and chose to put a big focus on creating spaces to encourage interaction with them as well.
MSD needed a partner who could deliver the full soft fit out and work with them and their architects, Studio Pacific, to develop solutions for the various spaces that were designed to support different working activities.
Vidak was engaged as a key partner for all furniture solutions, working with everyone across the board to deliver a successful outcome. The project involved delivering a significant amount of different solutions across all 18 floors, working in collaboration with MSD’s project managers The Building Intelligence Group.
MSD’s brand new headquarters now includes state-of-the-art fast wind sit-to-stand desks (a first in New Zealand); Vecos smart lockers to support their move to a more flexible, dynamic way of working; agile conference furniture; a range of collaborative and informal settings to support connection and communication in the workplace; and a range of focus settings to accommodate these activities.
Vidak’s involvement with the project began at the concept phase in December 2015 through to completed delivery in September 2016.
